Marital Settlement Agreement
A marital settlement agreement is a contract entered into between parties in which they agree on how they will divide property, debts, agree to a specific amount of spousal and child support, agree to child visitations and custody, and spell out their rights and responsibilities upon divorce.
A marital settlement agreement is a good option for parties to make their own decisions as to property and other marital issues instead of letting the court decide for them.
Once signed by the judge, the agreement becomes a part of the final judgment and binding upon parties.
